BRD Boss Recalls Operating Bitcoin Help Line During Crypto’s Early Days
In an interview with Cointelegraph, Adam Traidman, the CEO of wallet provider BRD, recounted operating a phone support line for cryptocurrency users during the company’s infancy. After starting BRD, formerly Breadwallet, in 2015, Traidman recalls the firm’s CMO deciding to launch the "Bitcoin Therapy Hotline" without consulting the firm’s other executives. Traidman initially thought the idea was crazy, stating, “Back then, other big Bitcoin companies like Coinbase and whatnot didn’t have phone support, and their average email response times were days or weeks. And there we were, without any phone tree, [...] literally just a ring and a human.” "Flooded …

Ledger Crypto Wallet Claims Purported Vulnerability Is User Experience Flaw
Leading crypto hardware wallet producer Ledger has denied that its product’s transaction management software featured a double-spend vulnerability. According to Ledger’s CTO Charles Guillemet, the vulnerability recently revealed by software wallet ZenGo is — in fact — nothing more than a user experience flaw. He illustrated the nature of its hardware wallet companion software Ledger Live to Cointelegraph: “It’s important to understand that rather than an attack, the actual flaw may be seen more as a clever piece of trickery. Trickery is not a vulnerability. However, we do want to prevent anyone from falling victim to these kinds of clever …

Bancor’s Bug Exposes Dangerously Common Practice in Ethereum DeFi
A vulnerability discovered on Bancor on Thursday would have allowed hackers to simply drain the funds of anyone who interacted with its smart contracts. The exploit relied on the concept of withdrawal authorization, introduced in the ERC-20 standard. This allows various Ethereum-based decentralized applications to automatically withdraw money from users’ wallets. As Oded Leiba, a research engineer at ZenGo, wrote, the fund withdrawal function on Bancor’s smart contract was mistakenly set so that anyone could call it. Bancor acted preemptively to “steal” user funds before malicious parties could intervene. Compounding this issue was the fact that Bancor’s contracts requested an …
