Tech transformation: Don Tapscott’s ‘Platform Revolution’ book review
Enterprise blockchain started to take shape in 2016, a time when companies like IBM began to leverage private networks for supply chain management. It was also during 2016 that author Don Tapscott wrote and published Blockchain Revolution, a book that examines the way that blockchain will transform a number of industries. Following the release of Blockchain Revolution, Tapscott — who is also co-founder of the Blockchain Research Institute — published Supply Chain Revolution in August 2020. Given the timing of the book’s publication, Supply Chain Revolution detailed the way the COVID-19 pandemic exposed glitches throughout supply chains across the world, …

New tribes of the Metaverse — Community-owned economies
People have talked in glowing tones about the transformative properties of blockchain since Satoshi Nakamoto launched Bitcoin (BTC) back in 2009 — books have been written, thousands of panels and presentations have complemented its prospects, costumed Bitcoin maximalists have flaunted their newfound wealth. Despite these commendations, the transformation has been slow. However, whether the delay was due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, or just the time needed to create innovation, we are now on the cusp of change that is creating new economies and ways of human interaction. The Metaverse, with the powerful combination of game theory and blockchain, is …

The Holy Grail for crypto traders: Consistent average returns over 5%
If you look at crypto assets’ price movements as a series of isolated events, the picture is messy. Sure, some traders can occasionally win big off one-time events or thanks to sensing a meme-inspired trend. In the long run, however, most of these “fortuitous” traders tend to lose. Why? Because they have to pick big-time winners to cover all the times they miss their targets. For every Shiba Inu, there were a thousand coins that didn’t moon. Which is why crypto traders who employ processes rather than try to predict events are more likely to fill their bags in the …

Stablecoin issuers poised to be banks of the future on road to adoption
There is no denying the fact that the crypto market has grown from strength to strength over the course of 2021, as is best highlighted by the total capitalization of the industry recently hitting the $3-trillion mark, albeit for a relatively brief period of time. That said, stablecoins, a class of cryptos that have their value pegged to a fiat currency, have seen their usage increase dramatically in recent months thanks, in large part, to their ability to help investors get their feet wet with digital currencies while eliminating many of the core issues — such as daily price volatility …

Crypto Thanksgiving: NFT drops and Black Friday deals go mainstream?
From the rise of the Metaverse to major brands announcing nonfungible token (NFT) drops, cryptocurrency mass adoption is well underway. Americans in particular have taken a growing interest in crypto, as recent findings from the Pew Research Center found that nearly a quarter of 10,371 adults in the United States were familiar with cryptocurrency, while only one-eighth (13%) were entirely unfamiliar with the concept. Additional research from online broker firm, BrokerChooser, discovered that the U.S. is the third most interested county in NFTs, falling behind Canada and Australia. Given America’s curiosity for crypto, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that …

One million ETH worth have been burned since the implementation of EIP-1559 in August
In a Twitter post published Wednesday, blockchain research firm CryptoRank revealed that over 1 million Ether (ETH) worth $4.24 billion had been burned since the introduction of the EIP-1559 protocol in August as part of the London hard fork. The EIP-1559 protocol reformed the Ethereum fee market, modifying the limit for gas fees and introducing a burn feature that takes a portion of transaction fees on the blockchain out of circulation, to be canceled permanently. Notable decentralized applications responsible for token burn contributions include popular nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, platform OpenSea.io and play-to-earn NFTs game Axie Infinity. Next, transaction volume …

Joe Longo, chair of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, or ASIC, spoke at the Australian Financial Review Super and Wealth Summit on Nov 22 at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney. The rise of crypto, he said, has been “nothing short of phenomenal, and impossible to ignore.” As a corporate and markets regulator, Longo admitted to a certain fascination with decentralized autonomous organizations, or DAOs. He said that they present certain challenges for national regulators like ASIC: “To paraphrase a concept familiar to corporate lawyers, to whom does ASIC turn to ascertain the directing mind and will of a DAO? …

How Solana and Cardano are paving new avenues for NFT growth
The term “digital ownership” has only recently come to mean anything. The third quarter of 2021 alone saw over $10 billion in NFT trade volume across blockchains, a substantial increase from Q2's $1.2 billion. NFTs are unique digital assets that represent ownership. As proof of ownership, NFTs extend from things like art and digital collectibles to real estate and other physical assets. This is causing a tectonic shift in a wide range of industries, …

Ontology and bloXmove to bring decentralized identity to urban transport apps
Ontology, a developer of self-sovereign identification systems on the blockchain, announced a partnership with decentralized mobility platform bloXmove on Tuesday morning in a bid to accelerate the development of its decentralized credentials. The decentralized digital identity protocol, or DID, will enable blockchain participants to share their personal information, such as a driver's license, in a private, secured, and encrypted manner. DIDs may one day be required for complex decentralized finance applications, such as urban transport apps, decentralized health insurance, or decentralized car insurance. Simple smart contracts would not suffice in processing, for example, where a decentralized insurance underwriter covers a …
