Australian buy now pay later (BNPL) firm Afterpay believes that local merchants can slash payment costs by utilizing cryptocurrencies. Online shoppers who pay with their Coinbase Card via Apple Pay and Google Pay will begin enjoying crypto rebates. Encrypted messaging app Signal has begun testing a payments feature that allows users to send cryptocurrency to other users privately. Signal announced on Tuesday that it is integrating support for MobileCoin for a new peer-to-peer payments system in the beta version of its apps. The new system called Signal Payments has been launched for beta testing on Android and iOS platforms for United Kingdom-based users only at the current time. Global money transfer platform MoneyGram recently unveiled year-over-year growth numbers, showing double the number of transactions seen in May 2019. MoneyGram ended Q1 2020 with 57% growth in digital transactions, a June 9 statement from the company said. The firm saw activity ramp up another 43% by May's end.
