Ankr Network’s 2.0 upgrade aims to improve Web3 decentralization
Decentralized Web3 infrastructure provider Ankr Network (ANKR) has introduced its Ankr Network 2.0 upgrade aimed at transitioning blockchains into more resilient node networks. The upgrade is detailed in the Ankr 2.0 Whitepaper, which was obtained by Cointelegraph ahead of its release later on Thursday. The upgrade centers around making Web3 more decentralized through several new features, such as an option to run an independent node, the ability to stake ANKR tokens on a full node, and the Ankr DAO. A spokesperson explained to Cointelegraph: “The upgrade is aimed at transitioning more blockchains, and the DApps built on them, to more …

Terra projects band together in migration to Polygon ecosystem
More than 48 different crypto projects formerly based on the failed Terra ecosystem have found a resurgence by migrating over to Polygon. Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Wyatt expressed delight at his network’s ability to onboard many projects to the ecosystem in a Saturday tweet. He hinted that Polygon’s multimillion-dollar Terra Developer Fund has been effective in attracting the talent that was unexpectedly flung into limbo when Terra collapsed in May. UPDATE: Terra projects have begun migration. Over 48 projects and counting… including @OnePlanet_NFT, an exclusive @0xPolygon marketplace, and @DerbyStars_HQ! It was so awesome to help and welcome all these wonderful …

DappRadar and LayerZero launch chain-agnostic staking token
DappRadar and omnichain interoperability protocol LayerZero have launched a new token to enable cross-chain staking across multiple blockchains and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks — a move designed to minimize fees and increase access to staking opportunities. The functionality for the newly launched RADAR token is provided through a set of smart contracts, DappRadar said. One of the contracts is known as the controller and the other as a proxy. The two smart contracts work together to enable the new staking mechanism. Requests made to withdraw or claim rewards are sent to the proxy smart contract. It communicates with the …

Ethereum fork a success as Sepolia testnet gears up to trial the Merge
The difficulty bomb-delaying Gray Glacier hard fork went live on Ethereum on Thursday without a hitch, according to the network’s core devs including Ethereum Foundation’s Tim Beiko. The Sepolia testnet is also set to run through its Merge trial over the next few days and is the second last testnet to go through the trial before the official Merge. According to Etherscan, the Gray Glacier hard fork was initiated on block number 15050000 at roughly 6:54 am EST on Thursday. The hard fork will now delay the difficulty bomb by roughly 700,000 blocks or 100 days, giving devs until mid-October …

How to start a career in crypto? A beginner’s guide for 2022
The cryptocurrency industry is arguably one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. With its decentralized finance (DeFi) system and blockchain technology, crypto has become an attractive career path for those interested in technology and finance. As expected of any fast-growing sector, growth has also led to a corresponding increase in demand for talented individuals to build the space. According to a KoreanAITimes report, cryptocurrency and blockchain jobs grew by a whopping 118% between September 2020 and July 2021. Even in the correct market downturn, where some firms have paused hiring or cut staff from their rosters, others are actively …

Flipside Crypto launches NFTs to pull multi-chain data
Blockchain analytics firm Flipside Crypto has launched an online Software Development Kit (SDK) called ShroomDK, which is based on nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and provides an automated means to pull “comprehensive” blockchain data via software. Being NFT-based enables the SDK to be on-sold or upgraded more easily, according to the company. Co-founder Jim Myers said that the ability to query blockchain data from multiple chains in an automated (programmatic) fashion has been a “critical piece of missing infrastructure for blockchain developers and analysts.” Software-as-a-Service, or SaaS, refers to software delivered over the web instead of locally on machines. An SDK generally …

A ‘very ambitious’ $100M Metaverse R&D hub is being built in Melbourne
Thailand-based metaverse startup Translucia Global Innovation has partnered with the Australian software development firm Two Bulls and set aside an initial budget of $100 million to build a Metaverse Research and Development Center (MRDC) in Melbourne. Translucia is a subsidiary of art and entertainment company T&B Media Global, which in October 2021, launched its Translucia Metaverse project, with a first-stage investment of $283 million for the virtual world. Now, T&B are partnering with Two Bulls to build the MRDC to bring the project to life with a slated soft launch for November this year. Two Bulls Founder and CEO James …

Ethereum testnet Beacon Chain launched and ready for trial merge
The Sepolia testnet Beacon Chain has gone live, setting the stage for its merge dress rehearsal to give Ethereum network developers valuable technical insights. Upon merging with its dedicated Beacon Chain, the Sepolia testnet will begin reaching consensus using proof-of-stake (PoS) rather than proof-of-work (PoW), which will provide data on what may happen when the Ethereum mainnet performs its merge. The Ethereum Sepolia Beacon Chain has been deployed! The Merge is coming https://t.co/IuJBnFp0Xx — Crypto-Gucci.eth ᵍᵐ (@CryptoGucci) June 20, 2022 The exact date of the Sepolia merge has not been determined. Testnet merges are essential for Ethereum developers and independent …

Scalable blockchain network provides foundation for more secure, stable coding for developers
Git open-source repositories are a popular method for storing code. Unfortunately, a high degree of centralization means there's a single point of control — sparking fears about the prospect of censorship resistance and security. And as more code is written, it can become less secure. Solutions are now being developed for the teams who manage these open-source repositories — with decentralized autonomous organizations sometimes tasked with building consensus around a code. They can encourage and incentivize developers to look at the code and attest to its security. The technology of Everscale Network, a layer one blockchain recognized for its stability …

Solana developers tackle bugs hoping to prevent further outages
Developers have fixed the runtime bug that caused the latest outage of the Solana (SOL) network on June 1. According to a report published by Solana Labs on Sunday, Solana’s fifth outage of 2022 was caused by a bug in the “durable nonce transactions feature,” which caused the network to stop producing blocks for roughly four and half hours. “The durable nonce transaction feature was disabled in releases v1.9.28/v1.10.23 to prevent the network from halting if the same situation were to arise again.” “Durable nonce transactions will not process until the mitigation has been applied, and the feature re-activated in …

Rival blockchain projects angling for talent from Terra developers
The collapse of the Terra ecosystem, which included most of its apps and protocols, has created a diaspora of developers from which opportunistic blockchain companies are hoping to snap up talent. Polygon, one of the largest blockchains by total value locked (TVL), is actively seeking out Terra developers to add valuable expertise and support to their efforts. Polygon launched a “relatively uncapped multimillion-dollar fund” designed to entice Terra developers to migrate over to the Ethereum sidechain scaling solution, according to Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Wyatt speaking to TechCrunch at the weekend. Wyatt added that he wanted the fund to be …

Ethereum Beacon Chain experiences 7 block reorg: What’s going on?
Ahead of the Merge tentatively penciled in for August, Ethereum’s Beacon Chain experienced a seven-block reorganization, or reorg, on Wednesday. According to data from Beacon Scan, on Wednesday, seven blocks from number 3,887,075 to 3,887,081 were knocked out of the Beacon Chain between 08:55:23 to 08:56:35 am UTC. The term reorg refers to an event in which a block that was part of the canonical chain, such as the Beacon Chain, gets knocked off the chain due to a competing block beating it out. It can be the result of a malicious attack from a miner with high resources or …
