The update is welcomed news for the Central American country’s crypto experiment, which faced some hurdles and harsh criticism over the last few months. While much of the observers’ attention has been focused on aspects such as retail adoption of crypto and geopolitical implications of Bitcoin’s legal status in El Salvador, the progress of the nation’s mining industry toward achieving President Bukele’s moonshot vision has been …

Will this time be different? Bitcoin eyes drop to $35K as BTC price paints 'death cross'
Bitcoin (BTC) formed a trading pattern on Jan. 8 that is widely watched by traditional chartists for its ability to anticipate further losses. In detail, the cryptocurrency's 50-day exponential moving average (50-day EMA) fell below its 200-day exponential moving average (200-day EMA), forming a so-called "death cross." The pattern appeared as Bitcoin underwent a rough ride in the previous two months, falling over 40% from its record high of $69,000. Death cross history Previous death crosses were insignificant to Bitcoin over the past two years. For instance, a 50-200-day EMA bearish crossover in March 2020 appeared after the BTC price …

Data suggests traders view $46,000 as Bitcoin’s final line in the sand
Dec. 13 will likely be remembered as a “bloody Monday” after Bitcoin (BTC) price lost the $47,000 support, and altcoin prices dropped by as much as 25% within a matter of moments. When the move occurred, analysts quickly reasoned that Bitcoin’s 8.5% correction was directly connected to the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting which starts on Dec. 15. Investors are afraid that the Federal Reserve will eventually start tapering, which simply put, is a reduction of the Federal Reserve’s bond repurchasing program. The logic is that a revision of the current monetary policy would negatively impact riskier assets. While …

Last year, the cryptocurrency surged by 28% to reach levels above $13,500 after finishing September at around $10,800, following an approximate 7.5% decline. Similarly, Bitcoin climbed …

Société Générale proposes historic $20M DAI loan in exchange for bond tokens
One of France’s leading banks has turned to decentralized finance pioneer MakerDAO to propose the submission of bond tokens as collateral for a loan of the DAI stablecoin. The historic proposal, called “Security Tokens Refinancing,” was submitted to Maker’s governance forums by the international bank on Friday. It would be the first major collaboration between a traditional bank and a DeFi protocol, and could open the door for closer integration between the two sectors. Societe Generale (SG) labeled it as the “first experiment at the crossroads between regulated and open source initiatives.” The bank has proposed that it provide “OFH” …

Altcoin roundup: There’s more to DeFi than just providing liquidity
The growth of the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector has been a recurrent headline throughout 2021 and to date, hundreds of billions of dollars in crypto assets are locked on protocols across numerous blockchain networks and earning a yield for their holders. What started off as a simple Ethereum-based swap interface that allowed ERC-20 tokens to be exchanged in a decentralized manner, called Uniswap, has exploded into a vast ecosystem full of decentralized exchanges, yield farms, lending protocols and staking platforms. As development continues and older protocols become more established, newer projects have emerged to incorporate more pieces from the traditional …

The senior commodity strategist, who sees BTC heading to $100,000, pitted derivatives in a new report representing the three safe-haven assets against the performance of the S&P 500 index, finding that the trio has been outperforming the benchmark Wall Street index at least since the start of 2020. The Bitcoin-Gold-Bonds index took data from the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) and iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT). The three …

Bloomberg strategist explains why 30-year US bonds have 'bullish implications' for Bitcoin
Despite Bitcoin (BTC) slipping back below $50,000, more and more investors are likely to move their capital into Bitcoin and gold markets in the second half of 2021 (H2), asserted Mike McGlone, senior commodity strategist at Bloomberg Intelligence, on Aug. 23. The financial analyst cited the consistently lower yields offered by the 30-year U.S. Treasury note to explain his upside prediction. He noted that if its rate of return persists below 2%, it could enhance the price discovery stage for Bitcoin while posing a competitive advantage for traditional safe-haven assets like gold. #Bitcoin, #Gold & Long #Bonds: Three Amigos for …

Bitcoin price is 3–4 weeks away from new $24K–$29K range, market analyst warns
Popular cryptocurrency trader Keith Wareing warned Bitcoin (BTC) traders about a critical bearish scenario brewing in the market. The trader spotted Bitcoin inside an inverse cup-and-handle pattern earlier this month, a bearish structure that forms during a price wave downward, followed by a stabilizing period. The technical design typically leads the price lower by as much as the size of the previous decline. Bitcoin topped near $65,000 in mid-April before reversing to the downside in later sessions. The cryptocurrency crashed to as low as $28,800 on June 22 after attempting to keep prices above $30,000 repeatedly. It successfully did so …
